12/17 Strikeforce Battles

On Saturday, December 17th, Strikeforce finishes the year strong with three exciting title matches taking place at the Valley View Casino in San Diego, California.

Reigning Lightweight champion, Gilbert “El Nino” Melendez defends his title against the thrashing striker, Jorge Masvidal. El Nino held true to his name, as he annihilated his last opponent with a punishing series of elbows in a first round TKO defending his championship for the second time. Known for his devastating blows and solid chin, Jorge Masvidal loves to pound his opponents into submission. Melendez’s boxing and Jiu-Jitsu stylings versus Masvidal’s will to knock his opponents out, promises to be an action-packed battle for the belt.

The other championship battle is between the top featherweight weight female in the world, Chris “Cyborg” Santos and Hiroko Yamanaka. Cyborg promises to end Yamanaka with her usual ground and pound style, but Yamanaka has been training hard for her chance to prove herself in this exhilarating matchup.

Securing the DREAM Light Heavyweight championship in 2010 and coming off a Strikeforce draw against Keith Jardine in April, MMA legend, Gegard “The Dreamcatcher” Mousasi is looking to unify Light Heavyweight belts with a battle against Ovince St. Preux. Meanwhile, rising MMA star, KJ Noons will be taking on undefeated Billy Evangelista to see who deserves the next shot at the Lightweight title.

With these exciting year-end matchups, these solid Strikeforce battles promise to rock the foundation of rankings in all of MMA.
