When it was announced Friday night that Frank Mir would step in to challenge Junior dos Santos for the UFC’s Heavyweight strap, questions and rumors arose over who would fight Cain Velasquez (9-1, MMA).

Dana White confirmed on twitter today that Bigfoot Silva (16-3, MMA) will fight Cain Velasquez.

The tweet read:

The shifting of opponents on the UFC 146 card leaves Roy Nelson now in need of an opponent, if he remains on the card at all.

For the former heavyweight champ,Velasquez, this fight vs the former Strikeforce standout will clearly determine his status as a contender for the title.
