The Ultimate Fighter Series to Return to Taped Format

[singlepic id=1157 w=320 h=240 float=left]According to a Yahoo Sports article, The Ultimate Fighter, the UFC’s reality series, will return to a taped format next season.   While the biggest benefit of TUF Live was watching the fights as they happened, the downfall for most fans was not getting to know more about the fighters competing in the series.  Episodes also ran past their allotted time slot at times.

UFC President Dana White told Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports on Tuesday, if “this next season isn’t up to the standards I expect, they promised me we can move it to Tuesday or Wednesday.”

This season was the 15th in the series, but was dubbed The Ultimate Fighter Live and was the 1st time the series aired on FX.  It was put into a highly competitive time slot, airing on Friday nights at 10pm ET/PT. As a result, ratings were low for the series itself and the Finale’s gate had a final attendance of 1,628.  Of that number,674 tickets were complimentary and 514 seats were left unsold.

Casting for season 2 on FX begin in 3 weeks.  This season will have a cast of welterweight fighters. The series will continue airing in the same time slot on Fridays on FX and will begin airing in September.  It is not yet determined who the coaches will be.
