Jamie Varner Replaces Injured Terry Etim for UFC on FOX 4

After a knockout win at UFC 146 over Edson Barboza, Jamie Varner (2-1, UFC) has stepped up once again to take on Joe Lauzon (8-4, UFC) August 4th, at UFC on FOX 4 in Los Angeles.  The former WEC lightweight champ is stepping in for Terry Etim who had to withdraw due to to injury.  UFC officials announced the news late last night.

Varner has gone on a 3 fight win streak since his departure from the WEC in 2010. He currently trains with current UFC lightweight champ, Benson Henderson, at the MMA Lab and also works with Arizona Combat Sports.  In his return to the UFC this May, he took down undefeated Barboza.

Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon started off 2012 with a loss in a tough matchup against one of the more dangerous UFC lightweights, Anthony Pettis.  Prior to that fight, he’d won his last two, defeating Melvin Guillard and Curt Warburton, and earned Submission of the Night honors for both fights.
