Ben Rothwell Out of UFC on FOX 4 Due to Ankle Injury, Palhares Out of UFC 150

The injury bug strikes again.  Both UFC on FOX 4 and UFC 150 have announced changed to their fight cards.

UFC on FOX 4 had four main bouts set up to be seen on FOX, but as of right now, there are only three that are set.  According to MMA Fighting, Ben Rothwell had to pull out of his fight against Travis Browne due to an ankle injury.  Though the same report by MMA Fighting stated that former Strikeforce fighter, Devin Cole, had signed with the UFC and would step up to fight Browne, nothing has been confirmed by the UFC.

It was also announced this week that UFC heavyweight Rob Broughton had to remove himself from his fight against Matt Mitrione at UFC on FOX 4 due to visa issues.  Mitrione alluded to The MMA Hour on July 3rd that he was aware it was a possibility that he wouldn’t fight Broughton because of his visa problems.  Today he told host Ariel Helwani that he’s been in Indiana spending time with his children and not training for the last five weeks which is why he doesn’t want to take the fight against Browne.

“It’s inevitable that Travis and I will fight,” he said, “but he and the fans deserve the best me possible because that scrap will certainly have title implications when it happens.”

It was also announced today by Murilo Bustamante on Fighters Only, that Rousimar Palhares injured his knee and would have to remove himself from his fight against Yushin Okami at UFC 150.  Chris Camozzi was also recently hurt and forced to withdraw from his fight against Buddy Roberts at UFC 150.  As a result of the pair of injuries at middleweight, Okami will now face off against Roberts, UFC officials announced today.

Jackson MMA prospect, Roberts, is on a 6 fight win streak.  This will be his second appearance inside the Octagon. Okami is in need of a win after losing his last two fights to Anderson Silva and Tim Boetsch, respectively.
