Brandao later confirmed via Twitter that he’d be fighting TriStar prospect Gambino.
The fight will take place at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro on October 13th. Both Brandao and Gambino are promising 145’s who are both coming off of losses. Brandao dropped a decision in his first UFC loss to Darren Elkins at UFC 146. Gambino lost his UFC debut by way of a guillotine choke submission to Steven Siler in the first round of their fight on UFC on FX: Maynard vs Guida. It was also the first loss of his MMA career.
Brandao trains at Jackson-Winklejohn’s MMA and is a native of Brazil. He flashed a variety of talent in the TUF season 14 finale where he defeated Dennis Bermudez via armbar to become the Ultimate Fighter. He also won Submission of the Night and Fight of the Night honors. This will be the first time Brandao’s returned to Brazil to fight since early 2009.
