Two former UFC heavyweight champions will go head to head once more at ONE FC “Pride of a Nation” on August 31, 2012 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Manila, Philippines. Those two former champs are none other than Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski, this will be the forth time they will meet.
The first time these fighters met was back in UFC 51 on February 5, 2005 where it took Arlovski only 47 seconds to put Sylvia in an achilles lock to claim the title. Then at UFC 59 on April 15, 2006, Sylvia got his revenge in round one at 2:43 with a TKO to take the title from the “Pit Bull”.
After both fighters won one a piece, there was the rubber match at UFC 61 on July 8, 2006, where Sylvia took the match via unanimous decision. At that time, both were two of top fighters in the heavyweight divison. In 2008, both left the UFC to go fight for Affliction were they met Fedor Emelianenko and both got finished in the first round. After their meetings with Fedor, both went on a downward slide were they fought in different organizations. Now they will fight in an event full of UFC vets like Jens Pulver, Renato Sobral, and Phil Baroni.
