Diego Sanchez Back to Lightweight

“its back to 155 for me… Should be good!!”

This is what former number one contender for the UFC lightweight title, Diego Sanchez, posted via his Twitter account. “The Dream” back in February of 2009 fought at 155 where he took on Joe Stevenson and Clay Guida in June of 2009. Sanchez pulled off the win in both fights that earned him a title shot against then champion BJ Penn where the fight got stopped in round five due to a cut on Sanchez to award Penn the win.

After his lost in his first title shot, Sanchez moved back up to 170 where he lost to John Hathaway by unanimous decision. But Diego came back to have two Fight of the Night fights against Paulo Thiago and Martin Kampmann, Diego would win both fights by unanimous decision.

In February 2012, Sanchez took on top welterweight Jake Ellenberger in another Fight of the Night fight, but this time ended up on the other side of the fence by losing the fight by unanimous decision. Now the TUF season one winner will take one more try at claiming the 155 title and put on more uptempo Fight of the Night fights.
