The UFC announced two booked fights to UFC 154 and UFC 155 today. Mark Bocek vs Rafael dos Anjos has been announced for UFC 154 in Montreal, Canada and Joe Lauzon vs Gray Maynard has been confirmed for UFC 155.
UFC 154 is slated to take place on November 17 at the Bell Center in Montreal, Canada. Expected to headline the card is a bout to unify the UFC Welterweight Championship between Georges St. Pierre and Carlos Condit. The addition of a lightweight battle between Bocek vs dos Anjos pits two fighters on the rise in division against each other.
Bocek and dos Anjos are both riding 2-fight win streaks and are looking to get one step closer to being top rated contenders in the division. Bocek is coming off of a unanimous decision win this past April over John Alessio. Dos Anjos bested Anthony Njokuani on the last UFC of FUEL TV card winning via unanimous decision.
Also announced by the UFC today, another lightweight bout which could determine the next contender in the lightweight division. Joe Lauzon vs Gray Maynard is on tap for UFC 155 which is expected to take place on Dec 29th, though the date and location of UFC 155 has yet to be confirmed by the UFC.
Joe Lauzon impressed in his third round triangle-choke submission win over Jamie Varner at UFC on FOX 4. Lauzon took home honors for both Fight of the Night and Submission of the Night. With the double dip on bonuses bringing his total to 11, Lauzon also became the record holder for most bonuses in the UFC.
Gray Maynard out-pointed Clay Guida in a split decision victory when he headlined the main event on UFC on FUEL TV on June 22nd. Guida’s dodge, dance and move approach to the fight was questioned by many and his failure to engage during the fight frustrated Maynard. There’s no doubt that both fighters will be sure to scrap and flash leather when Lauzon faces Maynard at UFC 155.
UFC 155 has confirmed Junior dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez 2 as the main event in a fight for the UFC Heavyweight Championship.
