UFC on FOX 5: UFC 151 Bouts Get New Home, 2 Big Fights Added

[singlepic id=1036 w=320 h=240 float=left]UFC on FOX 5 is starting to look like a dream card. In the UFC’s final FOX card for 2012, UFC officials have announced a heavyweight and welterweight contest are in place for the December 8th card at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington.

UFC heavyweights Lavar “Big” Johnson and Brendan “The Hybrid” Schaub have verbally agreed to fight. Johnson is looking to rebound from a loss at UFC 146 where he stepped in with only 10 days notice and fought Stefan Struve. Lavar was submitted by “The Skyscraper” in the first round.  Schaub has suffered two losses in a row, one to Antonio Nogueira at UFC 134 and then to Ben Rothwell at UFC 145. Both will be looking to get back on track in the W column with this fight.

Verbals are also in place for Matt “The Immortal” Brown and Mike “Quick” Swick.  Swick made a triumphant return to fighting at the UFC on FOX 4 after a two year layoff.  He made quick work of DaMarques Johnson KO’ing him in the 2nd round. Brown has been flying under the radar winning his last 3 in a row. There’s no doubt this welterweight clash will bring on the fireworks.

Two more fights have found homes following the cancellation of UFC 151. UFC lightweights Daron Cruickshank vs. Henry Martinez and Tim Means vs. Abel Trujillo will also fight on the UFC on FOX 5 card.

The main event on the UFC on FOX 5 card is a UFC lightweight title fight between Benson Henderson and Nate Diaz.  Rory MacDonald vs BJ Penn and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs Alexander Gustafsson are also set to fight on the event’s main card.
