Just yesterday Sherdog.com reported that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira had told them that he was 100 percent recovered from his arm injury suffered at the hands of Frank Mir. Nogueira – AKA “Minotauro”- appears to be on tap to fight Dave Herman (1-2, UFC) at UFC 153 in Rio de Janiero, Brazil on October 13th. Globo TV in Brazil said sources close to the event have confirmed verbal agreements are in place for the bout.
According to the article, Nogueira vs Herman will be the 3rd event on the main card. No announcement has been made yet as to who will be the main or co-main event.
Herman hasn’t won since making his UFC debut against Jon Olav Einemo at UFC 131 for which he earned Fight of the Night honors. He’s since faced Stefan Struve and Roy Nelson and was knocked out by both men.
Minotauro (4-3, UFC) hasn’t been back to the Octagon since Frank Mir snapped his arm in a kimura submission at UFC 140. He was linked to at UFC 149 bout against Cheick Kongo, but had to withdraw because his arm was not fully healed. With Vitor Belfort and Jose Aldo off of the main card, Brazil will be sure to be root for Nogueira against Herman. At UFC 134, Nogueira made his return to his native land to fight and knocked out Brendan Schaub in the 1st round earning Knockout of the Night honors.
