MMAFighting.com released an exclusive report minutes ago stating the Dennis Hallman was cut from the UFC after not making weight for his fight against Thiago Tavares. The main issue wasn’t so much that he missed weight, as it was that he had personal issues to deal with. According to the report, Hallman spoke to UFC President Dana White and deemed himself unable to fight.
Hallman told MMAFighting.com that he had gotten down to 158, but passed out while trying to cut to the 156 limit. He was given intravenous fluids which put his weight at seven pounds over. Tavares had said he’d take the fight if Hallman could make 159 lbs. Reportedly, Hallman said he did make the weight requested by Tavares, but Tavares requested he drop one more pound.
At that time, Hallman went to White and said he he had a personal issue and asked to be removed from the card.
Hallman texted Mike Chiapetta of MMAFighting what had happened. This is the information:
“They are cutting me,” he wrote. “Dana [White] gave me my show and win pay to help me deal with the mountain in front of me. Now I have to go make weight a couple times on the regional circuit. I’ll be back to the UFC though, I always am.”
“I’m having some personal issues at home,” Hallman said. “I’m not fit to fight. I told Dana [White] what my issues were. He understands family matters, and he was cool with me not fighting.”
Hallman vs Tavares has been removed from the card. Moving into its place on the FUEL TV preliminary card is Marcus Levesseur vs Carlo Prater. The action kicks off on Facebook at 1pm ET/PT, Prelims on FUEL at 5pmET/2pmPT, Main card 8pmET/5pmPT.
