UFC 155 Adds Brad Pickett vs Eddie Wineland & Erik Koch vs Ricardo Lamas

A bantamweight clash between two former WEC stars has been added to UFC 155 on December 29th. Brad “One Punch” Pickett (22-6, MMA) will scrap with Eddie Wineland  (19-8, 1 draw, MMA) in the UFC’s end of the year event that features Junior dos Santos defending his heavyweight title against Cain Velasquez in a massive rematch.

In addition, featherweight action between rising contenders Ricardo Lamas and Erik Koch has also been added to the fight card.

Pickett and Wineland never faced off in the WEC; but now we get a matchup we’ve been waiting for as fight fans for our end of the year treat.

After losing his UFC debut to current UFC Interim Bantamweight Champ, Renan Barao, Pickett has strung together back to back wins against Damacio Page and Yves Jabouin, respectively. Since joining the UFC, Pickett has earned bonuses in all three of his fights. He already has two Fight of the Night honors and most recently, earned Knockout of the Night for his devastating one punch finish against Jabouin.

Eddie Wineland will look to prove he can string together a couple of wins in the UFC. Since joining the promotion, he’s gone 1-2 at bantamweight. In June, at the UFC on FX card, Wineland impressed with  second round knockout victory that also earned Fight of the Night honors against Scott Jorgensen.

MMA Opinion announced the news of Koch (13-1, MMA) vs Lamas (12-2, MMA) on Sunday and reported that verbal agreements are in place for the bout. Koch most recently was set to challenge Jose Aldo on two separate occassions for the UFC Featherweight Championship, until he had to withdraw due to injury both times. The latest was set for UFC 153. Now the “New Breed” gets a shot at one of the rising contenders in the 145 lb division.

Lamas has gone undefeated at featherweight since joining the UFC. The former WEC lightweight dropped in weight upon joining the UFC and has bested every opponent he’s faced in his last three fights. In order: Matt Grice, Cub Swanson and Hatsu Hioki.

So far, UFC 155 taking place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV features:
