Bellator 79 Paul Daley and Eduardo Dantas Removed from Fight Card

Bellator 79’s planned November 2nd show in Rama, Ontario, Canada has lost two of its headliners. Paul “Semtex” Daley and Eduardo Dantas have both been pulled from the event.

A Bellator spokesman told MMA Fighting that Daley won’t be able to make the trip to Canada after visa issues in his native England have stifled his ability to travel. Dantas was pulled due to needing more recovery time since he was knocked out by Tyson Nam on August 25th and suffered a concussion in the loss.

Daley was expected to compete in Bellator’s welterweight tournament. Instead his Bellator return will be postponed until January 2013. He was expected to face Kyle Baker.  Ryan Ford has been tabbed as Daley’s replacement against Baker. Ford and Baker will fight on the November 2nd card.

Dantas and Nam fought in a charity show with Bellator’s permission where Dantas suffered a concussion in the knockout loss. Bellator is proceeding with caution in Dantas’ return.   He was due to defend his bantamweight title against Marcos Galvao, but that matchup will have to wait for a future date.

Bellator 79 will feature the heavyweight tournament’s semi-final pitting Thiago Santos against Richard Hale. Mike Richman and Shahbulat Shahmalaev face off in the featherweight tourney semi-final.
