Hurricane Sandy brutalized the East Coast in one of the worst storms they’ve seen in years. The hurricane ravaged Atlantic City, NJ, Manhattan and Long Island, NY. Waves at least eight feet high pounded homes along the shoreline of Long Island and even ripped entire boardwalks and homes from the beach front.

UFC middleweight fighter Chris Weidman, a native of Long Island, NY, lost his home in the storm according to a tweet from Ryan Bader, who is managed under the same group as Weidman.

According to Weidman’s Twitter account, he and his family did evacuate the area prior to their home being destroyed. He posted yesterday that he’d maintain updates on his Facebook account, but the area has lost power as have about one million residents in the greater Tri-State area.

Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com tweeted that he received a text from Weidman stating that he and his family are alright.

MMA Fight Corner sends our best wishes to Weidman and his family.
