Fabricio Werdum and Big Nog Rumored to Coach TUF Brazil 2

[singlepic id=619 w=320 h=240 float=left]According a report by Brazil’s Globo.TV and other media outlets, reliable sources have informed them that heavyweights Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum have verbally agreed to the coach The Ultimate Fighter Brazil’s 2nd season which will feature welterweights.

The series will begin airing in March 2013 on Globo TV Brazil. The coaches will face off following the end of season 2.

Since Werdum has also taken to Twitter to retweet several stories that reveal the news, it does seem to be a legitimate report.

It was highly speculated prior to this announcement that Lyoto Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua would be the coaches this coming season.  However, this announcement gives us a rematch of a 2006 bout the two had in Pride.  The fight between Werdum and Big Nog in Pride was over six years ago, Werdum defeated Nogueira via unanimous decision then.

Nogueira is coming off of a triumphant return to the Octagon after a 10 month lay off to recover from a broken arm suffered at the hands of Frank Mir. Nogueira taught Dave Herman the importance of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu submitting Herman with an armbar in the second round. The victory for Big Nog even brought tears to Anderson Silva’s eyes.

Werdum hasn’t fought since UFC 147 in Brazil this past June. In his last outing, Werdum made quick work of Mike Russow, TKO’ing him in the second round and handing the Chicago poice officer his first defeat in 11 fights. The former Strikeforce heavyweight’s most notable win is over Fedor Emelianenko.
