Lavar Johnson Injured & Out of UFC on FOX 5

[singlepic id=939 w=320 h=240 float=left]UFC President Dana White announced on his official Twitter account Thursday night that heavyweight Lavar Johnson injured his groin and won’t be able to compete in next weekend’s UFC on FOX 5 card.

Johnson was set to fight Brendan Schaub who last fought at UFC 145 and suffered a knockout loss at the hands of Ben Rothwell. Prior to that loss, Schaub had lost to Minotauro Nogueira at UFC 134.

With a little under a week and a half to go until the December 8 fight card, it’ll be interesting to see if anyone will step up to face Schaub, who’s desperately in need of a win to remain relevant with the organization.

UFC on FOX 5 will take place at Seattle’s Key Arena and will feature a battle for the UFC Lightweight Championship between Benson Henderson and Nate Diaz. Lavar Johnson vs Brendan Schaub was supposed to be the main event of the FX preliminary card.
