MMA Junkie first reported that sources close to the event confirmed to them that Daniel Straus (21-4, MMA) broke his hand in training and will not be able to face Pat Curran (18-4, MMA) for the Featherweight title at Bellator 95 slated to take place on April 4 at Revel Resort & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
According to the report, the search for Straus’ replacement has already begun.
Last season, Curran was supposed to defend his title but suffered a broken orbital bone that delayed the Patricio “Pitbull” Freire fight. The battle ensued at Bellator 85 with Curran notching the decision victory over Freire.
Straus won the season 6 featherweight tournament which earned him the chance to face the champ. In route to winning the tournament, Straus defeated Jeremy Spoon, Mike Corey, and then Marlon Sandro to seal his shot against Curran.
Since his opportunity to face Curran was delayed, Straus kept busy clashing with Alvin Robinson and earning second round rear-naked choke victory at Bellator 78.
