UFC 160’s Memorial Day fight card taking place on May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena has added at featherweight scrap that features another former lightweight fighter. Jeremy “Lil Heathen” Stephens (20-9, MMA) will make his debut at 145 pounds and face off against Estevan Payan (14-3, 1 NC, MMA). UFC officials confirmed news of the bout on Wednesday to MMA Junkie.
Stephens has his back up against the wall amid the UFC announcing it will have to cut approximately 100 fighters and is in a must win situation. He’s lost three in a row at lightweight and was most recently KO’d by Yves Edwards in the first round at UFC on FOX 5.
Payan holds an eight fight unbeaten streak coming into the bout. He is yet another Strikeforce import making the transition to the UFC. In his last two outings, Payan defeated Alonzo Martinez via decision and then finished Mike Bravo with a second round TKO.
UFC 160 is expected to be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Cain Velasquez and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.
