Dana White: UFC FS1 1 taking place from Boston’s TD Garden

TDgardenAs UFC President Dana White announced on his official Twitter account the UFC will make its return to Boston, MA on August 17 for their first fight card on the FOX Sports 1 network. The fight card will take emanate from the TD Garden.

UFC lightweight and Massachusetts native Joe Lauzon has already asked for a fight on the card and more are sure to follow.

The last time the UFC was in Boston, it was UFC 118 in August 2010. Headlining the card was a lightweight championship rematch between Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn. Randy Couture fought James Toney in the co-main event and defeated him via first round arm-triangle.

A month ago executives from the FOX Sports Network announced that their first 24-hour sports would debut on August 17.  The date also coincides with the 20th anniversary of FOX Sports. The channel will be available in 90 million  homes and is set to feature Nascar, UFC, soccer, college sports and baseball.

The event is expected to be dubbed “UFC on FS1 1″.
