Recently the UFC announced that “The Warmaster” Josh Barnett (32-6) was making his return to fight with the promotion. Wednesday night came the news that agreements are in place for Barnett to square off opposite Frank Mir (16-7) at UFC 164.

The news was confirmed on the UFC’s official website.

Barnett last fought with Strikeforce and went 3-1 with the promotion. After falling short against Daniel Cormier during the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix, Barnett rebounded with a win in January against Nandor Guelmino on the promotion’s final fight card. He tweeted to Mir following news of the booking:

Mir will look to rebound against Barnett after suffering back-to-back losses. In May 2012 at UFC 146, Mir challenged Junior dos Santos for the UFC Heavyweight Championship and was TKO’d in the second round. At UFC on FOX 7, Mir faced promotional newcomer, the aforementioned Cormier, and came up short on the judges scorecards.

UFC 164 will emanate from the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 31. Featherweights collisions between Clay Guida vs. Chad Mendes and Dustin Poirier vs. Cub Swanson have also been confirmed for the event. Another heavyweight bout between Ben Rothwell and Brandon Vera has also been announced.

Tickets for UFC 164: Harley-Davidson Hometown Throwdown are now on sale to UFC Fight Club members, with an H-D 110 package pre-sale starting Thursday and a UFC newsletter pre-sale on Friday.Tickets go on sale to the public June 21.
