A featherweight war will ensue when Irishman Conor McGregor meets Englishman Andy Ogle at UFC on FOX Sports 1 1 in Boston, MA on August 17. McGregor was already confirmed by UFC President Dana White to be on the card, but no opponent had been announced.
The UFC confirmed that verbal agreements are in place for the featherweight clash on Friday afternoon.
McGregor (13-2, MMA) impressed the MMA world in his promotional debut at UFC on FUEL TV 9 when he finished Marcus Brimage in the first round of action. Since then, “Notorious” has stated that he wants to capture titles in both the lightweight and featherweight divisions. The 24-year-old standout is currently riding a nine fight win streak.
“I love this kid. I love his attitude, I love his fighting style,” White said of McGregor at the UFC 160 pre-fight media scrum.
Andy Ogle (9-2, MMA) was a competitor on TUF Live and has since compiled a 1-1 record in the UFC. After losing a controversial split decision in his debut with the organization, Ogle got redemption with a decision win over Josh Grispi at UFC on FUEL TV 7.
Neither man has been knocked out thus far in their professional careers.
This is the 5th bout announced to take place on the UFC on FOX Sports 1 1 fight card in Boston’s TD Garden on August 17.
