The shuffling of opponents continues for Invicta FC strawweight Joanne Calderwood who is now in line to face Norma Rueda Center at Invicta FC 6 on July 13.
MMA Rising was the first to report the news citing a source close to the promotion revealed the information to them. Invicta FC confirmed the news on Monday.
Initially Calderwood was on tap to face another undefeated prospect in Claudia Gadelha. However, once it was announced that Invicta FC’s Strawweight Champion Carla Esparza was injured, Gadelha was shifted over to fight Esparza’s original opponent, Ayaka Hamasaki. Then Sarah Schneider was brought in to square off against Calderwood, until it was announced that she had suffered an injury that would force her to withdraw.
Now, the Scottish Muay Thai Champion is on tap to meet Norma Rueda Center. Center is a Jackson’s MMA trained prospect who went undefeated at 5-0 as an amateur and is 2-0 as a professional. In her last outing she took home the W with a second round armbar submission.
Calderwood is one of WMMA’s top strikers and has amassed a record of 6-0. Thus far, she’s notched two wins under the Invicta FC banner. Her crushing knee to the body knockout of Ashley Cummins at Invicta FC 3 earned Knockout of the Night honors. Of her six victories, four have come by way of knockout.
A highly anticipated rematch between Cris Cyborg and Marloes Coenen is on tap as the main event in a battle for the inaugural Featherweight Championship.
