Mark Hunt’s staph infection continues to linger

Hunt160

UFC Heavyweight Mark Hunt took his Facebook page to inform fans that the staph infection he contracted following his fight with Junior dos Santos at UFC 160 has continued to be a troublesome issue for him.

He wrote (as transcribed by Sherdog.com):
“Well troops, just wanted [you] guys to know the skin [graft] didn’t survive, and I think I will be back in hospital next week. It’s a bummer, really, because the Hill Song Conference is starting next Tuesday. I hope I don’t have to go [to the] hospital, but we will see. I see [a] plastic surgeon Tuesday. Didn’t realize how bad this is, man. Anyway, troops, [I] will keep [you] guys informed.”

The 39-year-old Hunt was on a four-fight win streak before losing to dos Santos via knockout. It is uncertain how much longer the staph infection will continue to keep the New Zealander out of action. Hunt also broke his toe in the three round battle.
