As confirmed by the UFC, Michael Bisping won’t be able to have his homecoming in Manchester, England after all. Complications stemming from a detached retina have forced him to withdraw from UFC Fight Night 30.
Stepping in for Bisping against Mark Munoz (13-3) in the main event is Lyoto Machida (19-4).
ESPN.com was the first to report the news on Friday afternoon, White told ESPN the UFC will do what they can to help Bisping with the medical issue.
“We’re going to get him the best treatment possible. Hopefully he’ll be able to get through this thing,” White said to ESPN.
Machida was on tap to make his middleweight debut opposite Tim Kennedy at UFC Fight for the Troops 3 slated for November 6. No replacement has not yet been named for Kennedy in the main event.
Former Light Heavyweight Champion Machida will square off against Munoz in the main event at middleweight in the Phones4u Arena on October 26.
