After John “The Magician” Dodson (15-6) made quick work of Darrell Montague at UFC 166, he asked the UFC to book him another scrap right away. Seems the Flyweight will get his wish as he is now tapped to replace Ian McCall at UFC on FOX 9.
The UFC has confirmed news of the booking on their official website.
The one-time title challenger, Dodson, has a tough test ahead when he takes on Scott Jorgensen (14-7) in Sacramento, CA. His loss to Demetrious Johnson for the flyweight title is the Ultimate Fighter season 14 winner’s only one blemish on his record with the promotion. He’s coming off a Knockout of the Night performance against Montague.
For Jorgensen, it will be the first time the former bantamweight competes at Flyweight. Jorgensen has lost 3 of his last 4 inside the Octagon. His only win in that stretch came against John Albert at the UFC on FOX 7. Without a doubt, Jorgensen will be on the hunt for a win at the Sleep Train Arena.
Headlining UFC on FOX 9 taking place on Dec. 14 is a battle for the UFC Lightweight title where current champ Anthony Pettis will look to defend his title for the first time vs. Josh Thomson.
