UFC 170, emanating from the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on Feb. 22, will feature a bantamweight tilt pitting #12 ranked Bryan Caraway (18-6) against Brazilian prospect Lucas Martins (11-1).
UFC officials confirmed the news on Monday night.
After fighting two contests in the UFC at lightweight, Martins dropped down two weight classes to compete at 135-pounds. He technically submitted Junior Hernandez in 70 seconds at UFC Fight Night 28. At 2-1 with the promotion, Martins’ only loss was to Edson Barboza in his UFC debut.
Caraway last fought in April 2013 where he earned a third round submission over Johnny Bedford. Following that fight, Caraway has spent most of 2013 assistant coaching on TUF 18 alongside his training partner and girlfriend Miesha Tate. Since dropping to bantamweight, Caraway stands at 2-1.
UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will defend her title for the third time against another Olympic medalist and undefeated fighter, Sara McMann in the main event.
