Ireland’s “Notorious” one, Conor McGregor (14-2), will return to take on Cole Miller (21-8) in his native Dublin when the featherweights headline UFC Fight Night 46. The 5-round showdown is expected to take place on July 19 in the O2 Arena.
The booking was confirmed by the UFC on Wednesday.
McGregor has been out of action since taking a decision over Max Holloway at UFC Fight Night 26 last August. During the scrap, McGregor tore his ACL. The charismatic and often outspoken 25-year old is 2-0 with the promotion. In his UFC debut, he earned Knockout of the Night when he finished TUF 14 competitor Marcus Brimage.
Following a decision victory over Andy Ogle at UFC Fight Night 30 last October, Miller called out “Colin McGoober” in an unexpected move from the TUF 5 veteran. “Magrinho” additionally told Fighters Only that the rising star is the UFC’s “show pony” and their ticket to gaining fans in Ireland. Since firing shots against McGregor, Miller picked a second straight win, submitting Sam Sicilia at UFC Fight Night 35.
In an early look at the tale of the tape, McGregor’s only two losses have been via submission. Miller has tapped out 15 of his opponents. Meanwhile, Miller has never been submitted, but has been knocked out twice. His southpaw opponent has collected 12 wins by way of knockout.
