UFC Fight Night Dublin has had a middleweight bout announced to the July 19 fight card. TUF 17 alum Tor “The Hammer” Troeng (16-5-1) will look to get back on track against Strikeforce vet, Trevor “Hot Sauce” Smith (11-5), who is also in dire need of a win.
Less than 24 hours ago, Smith was expected to replace Bruno Santos against Chris Camozzi at UFC 175. However, the promotion has since retracted that statement and instead booked Smith against Troeng. Camozzi vs. Santos is still on for the July 5 event in Las Vegas.
In three fights with the UFC, Smith is 1-2. He made his promotional debut at UFC on FOX 8 and lost a split decision to Ed Herman. Despite rebounding with a win over Brian Houston, Smith was next stopped with strikes by Thales Leites at UFC Fight Night 39 in Abu Dhabi.
Sweden’s Troeng saw his 5-fight win streak halted by Rafael Natal at UFC Fight Night 28. Troeng was then expected to collide with former castmate Bubba McDaniel at UFC 171, but withdrew due to a shoulder injury. In his 16 wins, the 31-year old has 12 stoppages to his credit.
UFC Fight Night 46 is set to emanate from the O2 Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The main event features the UFC’s rising featherweight star, Conor McGregor, against Cole Miller.
