Carlos Diego Ferreira replaces Alan Patrick vs. Beneil Dariush at UFC 179

UFC 179

Carlos Diego Ferreira will look to add another UFC win to record when he steps in on short notice at UFC 179. The lightweight has agreed to met Beneil Dariush in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil on Oct. 25 after his original opponent, Alan Patrick, withdrew due to a broken jaw.

Still undefeated at 11-0, Ferreira will fight for the third time in just four months. Ferreira racked up a second win inside the Octagon at UFC 177 when he stopped Ramsey Nijem with strikes. In his UFC debut in July, he submitted Colton Smith in just 38 seconds.

Dariush will step into the cage for the fourth time this year. He is fresh off a submission victory over Tony Martin. Prior to that he tangled with the aforementioned Nijem and suffered the first loss of his career.

UFC 179 will take place at the Maracanazinho Gymnasium in Brazil on Oct. 25. In the main event, Jose Aldo looks to defend his featherweight title against Chad Mendes.
