After an initial report from MMA Junkie, it was made official by the UFC that middleweight champion Chris Weidman has again suffered an injury and will not be able to confront Vitor Belfort in the main event at UFC 184 on Feb. 28 in Los Angeles.

The news broke on Friday and has now been confirmed by UFC officials.

Weidman apparently suffered a rib injury and will be back to competition by Spring 2015.

Moving into the main event slot is UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey who will again put her title on the line against Cat Zingano. The ladies’ showdown was initially on tap as the co-main event.

Holly Holm vs. Raquel Pennington moves into the co-main event slot.

The fight card is expected to emanate from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Ca. with the main card airing on pay-per-view.
