Bellator’s British Invasion card set for the Mohegan Sun Arena on Feb. 27 lost one of its standout athletes from the U.K. to injury. Michael Page (7-0) has been forced to withdraw from his clash with Curtis Millender (7-0). Stepping in to replace Page is Brennan Ward (9-3).
Ariel Helwani first reported the news on the MMA Hour. The Fight Corner was able to confirm the report with Bellator officials.
Ward was already on tap to compete at Bellator 134 on the undercard. “The Irish Bad Boy” was expected to face off with Jesse Juarez at the event. Now, he’ll step into the spot light to take on the undefeated Millender. After going on a 4-fight win streak, Ward lost back to back fights against Alexander Shlemenko and Tamdan McCrory respectively. The 26-year-old will look to get back on track in his own backyard in Connecticut.
Making his Bellator debut, Millender will look to keep his unscathed record in tact. Millender hails from California where he has fought with Fight Club OC for the entireity of his professional career. In his last two outings, Millender’s notched wins over Ultimate Fighter 16 alumni Dominic Waters and James Chaney.
Bellator 134 features a main event between light heavyweight champ Emmanuel Sanders who puts his title on the line against Liam McGeary. The main card will air live on Spike TV on Friday, Feb. 27 starting at 9pm EST/6pm PST.
