Three bouts have been added to UFC Fight Night 68 on June 6 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The contests were announced on the UFC 184 weigh-in show on FOX Sports 1.
Heavyweight action will go down between Matt Mitrione (9-3) and Ben Rothwell (34-9). Middleweights Dan Henderson (33-10) and Tim Boetsch (18-8) will collide and lastly, lightweights Joe Proctor (10-3) and Justin Edwards (8-4) will trade leather.
Rothwell, 33, has had back-to-back wins in his last two fights. Ranked at no. 10, the Wisconsin native halted Alistair Overeem with strikes in his last effort at UFC Fight Night 50.
Mitrione has won three straight fights, all by (T)KO. He recently topped off that streak with a TKO finish of Gabriel Gonzaga. Ranked at 13 in the heavyweight division, Mitrione has the distinction of being one of few fighters to have fought their entire career in the UFC.
A former Olympic wrestler, Dan Henderson hasn’t had the best of luck in his recent scraps. The 44-year-old fighter has just one win in his last 6 fights. The former Pride and Strikeforce champion was finished by Gegard Mousasi in his return to middleweight at UFC on FOX 14. Both of “Hendo’s” wins in the past four years have come against Mauricio Rua.
Boetsch was stopped by Thales Leites at UFC 183. Though he was winning on the feet in the first round, the Maine athlete ended up getting submitted by Leites in the second. The battle won Fight of the Night, marking the second straight post-fight bonus Boetsch raked in. He earned Performance of the Night for his TKO stoppage of Brad Tavares at UFC Fight Night 47.
Lightweights Joe Proctor and Justin Edwards we’re also added to the event. Proctor lost his last outing at the TUF 20 Finale and was submitted by Yancy Medeiros. Edwards, 32, is in need of a big win. The former Ultimate Fighter season 13 product has lost 3 of his last 4.
Lousiana native Daniel Cormier takes on Ryan Bader in the main event at the Smoothie King Arena in a light heavyweight battle.
