On June 20, Alexander Gustafsson and Glover Teixeira will look to bounce back from recent losses when they lock horns in the main event of UFC Fight Night 69 in Berlin, Germany.
UFC president Dana White confirmed that the light heavyweight bout is set for the O2 World in an interview with MMA Crazy TV.
Gustafsson (16-3) last faced Anthony Johnson in a title eliminator and was finished in the first round. Known for putting on a Fight of the Year against current champion Jon Jones at UFC 165, the Swedish fighter will have to rebound into the win column to work his way back to a title shot. Sandwiched between his losses to to Jones and Johnson, “The Mauler” recorded a TKO victory over Jimi Manuwa last March.
Teixeira (22-4) suddenly finds himself in an unfamiliar situation as the Brazilian suffered back-to-back losses in 2014. Prior to his setbacks to Jones and Phil Davis, the 35-year-old had racked up a 20-fight winning streak. He too fell short against Jones in his title bid. Teixeira dropped a decision to Jones at UFC 172.
No other fights have been announced yet for the event set to take place in Berlin.
