Invicta Fighting Championships: Coenen Wins and Calls out Rousey

Over 100,000 tuned into the Invicta Fighting Championships, MMA’s 1st all-female fight card’s live stream last night.  Headlining the event was former Strikeforce bantamweight champion Marloes Coenen (20-5), who defeated her opponent, Romy Ruyssen (5-2), via unanimous decision (30-26 x3).  This also marked the second time that Coenen defeated Ruyssen. Top welterweight competitor Jay Hieron stopped by the MMA Fight Corner and updated us on his new fight contract with Legacy Fighting Championships.  The Xtreme Couture fighter, known as the “Thoroughbred Horse,” has a 22-5 record and won Bellator’s welterweight tournament in season 4. Sam Sicilia lost to Chris Saunders in tonight’s episode of the Ultimate Fighter Live via decision.  The win propels Saunders to the quarterfinals where he will join teammates Al Iaquinta, Mike Chiesa and Joe Proctor.  Team Cruz has James Vick, Justin Lawrence and Vinc Pichel in the quaterfinals. Benson Henderson vs Frankie Edgar II booked for UFC 150

The much anticipated rematch of Benson Henderson vs Frankie Edgar for the UFC lightweight championship has been booked for UFC 150  - MMAJunkie.com first reported the news. Nick Diaz Sues NSAC and is Ready to Fight Condit

According to Luke Thomas of MMA Fighting, UFC welterweight Nick Diaz has sued the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC). The lawsuit (all files provided by SB Nation), filed by Diaz’s lawyer Ross Goodman, states that the NSAC violated statutory laws and Diaz’s Constitutional rights to Due Process. FoxSports.com reported on Wednesday night that Hatsu Hioki has accepted a fight with Ricardo Lamas, both fighters are 2-0 in the UFC. Alistair Overeem Denied License to Fight by NSAC

It took nearly two hours from the beginning of Overeem’s hearing for the Nevada State Athletic Commission to decide his fate.  He came before the commission for the licensing hearing after testing positive for elevated testosterone in March 2012.
